PI of the APPAC study group, professor Paulina Salminen, was elected in October 2022 as an honorary fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), which is the largest surgical society in the world. There are approximately 160 honorary fellows in the world and she is one of the youngest ever to be elected as an honorary fellow.
